What exactly or How exactly did you intend for the troopers you use the flares. I have used them but haven't noticed the reason.

Can you or someone that knows the intention explain as I am always looking for a leg up on my competition.

Thanks,
Bob

This. The flare has a _tiny_ reveal radius, so you can use it to spot targets for artillery such as Hammer Cannons.

Okay, So they are realy irrelavent then. I figured that for the developers to impliment this, there would be a little more to it. I have tested for the artillery targetting and to me they aren't worth the effort. They get killed to easy. I find its better to put hammer cannons on guard and let them at it...

They also detect stealth too, IIRC.

Whilst I usually do the same, its annoying however they have to re-deploy when they've deployed already in guard mode...which could cost you your hammer/buritino.

They do. It's hard to use them well but there are more useless things in the game really.

Flares are not the units main intention, but they are useful. Going for hammer cannons in your strategy is usually very risky and unrewarding as they are made of paper and on lots of occasions it can shoot at stuff which is under the fog and you cannot see.

Use the flares to maximize the hammers effective range, only then those big guns are useful.
