A Czech company announced production of their new tablet device dedicated to note writing. This caught my interest as I have remotely similar device Genius G-Note G-5000 bought for similar price (99$) which converts pages written on it into image files. G-Note however needs a paper and special roller pen. G-Note also doesn't display results of this conversion.

NoteSlate is tablet device with monochromatic e-ink display, with size of the A4 paper and resolution of 750 × 1 080 px. This device itself is supposed to be 6mm thick, weigh about 280 g, run up to 180 hours (ARM CPU) and later versions are supposed to be able to handle 4 different colours or even normal pen(cil). There are plans for support of *.mp3, *.PDF or even OCR in future versions of tablet's open-source OS. Connection with other devices is conducted via WiFi, SD slot or mini-USB.

There's also important fact NoteSlate isn't supposed to compete with iPad or Tablet PC.

I'm sorry if this sounds like some advertisment, but I have seen no similar device before and I also think this tablet may be handy. UI8.gif
