Hello everyone!
It's that time of the year again! The ModDB Mod of the Year award nominations have officially begun just a few days ago!
Last year we came in second for the Player's Choice awards, which was great and solely made possible by all you guys!
If you like our mod and think we are deserving of your vote, than please do so and let's see if we can best that result this year.

Additionally, we have decided to go public with the testing of Version 1.87 so everyone can download and actively participate in testing.
More info can be found in the stickied topics on the forum here: http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.php?showforum=121 (please note that you require a registered and activated forum account and must be logged in to access this forum)

With all that being said, enjoy this weeks update with some cool goodies for the GLA:

The combination of anti-globalist/capitalist political ideology and radical salafism has proven to be extremely effective in attracting disaffected recruits for the GLA from nations around the world. From the former come many of the organisation's demolition specialists, such as the 'Wall Street Bombers' whose series of attacks on banking houses and business individuals around the Manhattan Financial District in 2042 revealed that the reach of the Global Liberation Army once again extended to American shores. In combat, GLA-affiliated Anarchists tend to be armed with a variety of hand grenades and home-made explosive devices which they can set up for area-denial purposes. Unlike their religiously motivated Terrorist cousins, Anarchists are utterly devoted to their goal in ensuring that the world shall suffer "no gods, no masters" - A stark ideological contrast which, according to recent intelligence analyses, has led to disputes among the GLA's top level leadership.

An archaic Bell 47 helicopter converted into a light gunship and chemical weapons dispersal platform. Despite the age of the airframes, these choppers prove to be effective in harsh environments due to their mechanical simplicity and ease of maintenance. Known as the infamous Plague Dusters, the GLA has outfitted their helicopters with anti-armor rockets, Stinger missiles as well as sprayer nozzles taken from crop duster aircraft. The sprayer nozzles are capable of dispersing weaponized Anthrax spores or other biological or chemical weaponry. As a result, the Plague Duster has become feared throughout Africa as a terror weapon designed to massacre entire populaces opposed to the GLA. Due to the helicopters' non-existent armor, the pilots are known to chew khat in order increase their reflexes and banish fear before going on missions.

This fortified structure is intended as a more permanent upgrade to the GLA Sneak Attack tunnel (and replaces all prior advanced variants in game). The GLA Lair is capable of requisitioning Workers and other basic GLA units for deployment onto the battlefield.

And a friendly reminder that this upcoming Sunday, we will be doing another official live stream of the newly released public build.
The stream will as usually be hosted by Hecthor Doomhammer on his channel: https://www.twitch.tv/pauljongejans

Nice, so the Anarchist replaces the Terrorist for 1.87 but latter returns as a Terror Cell exclusive?

Also the link to the 1.87 build is broken.

Man just today I was watching a recorded stream and thinking that I needed to play it so badly, and play with Mizo's big new AI. Or at least catch the next stream because I'm never able.

And today, just because I decided to check, I got both. It's a strange feeling, a good one. I appreciate this buddies.

Oh and pleased to meet you, ROTR is pretty based.

Posted by: Mizo 3 Dec 2016, 18:35

Welcome to the forums, enjoy the build ^^

Posted by: Black 3 Dec 2016, 19:24

Thanks Mizo, you weren't kidding when you said you rebuilt the AI from scratch, even on easy they do a lot of different things now. I saw hijackers being used, they expand to and defend supply sites...a lot to see and experiment with, this will keep me occupied for a looong time. I just love poking and seeing how it reacts, I wonder if they still have the free funds when needed or you can actually cripple their economy now. I'm not even talking about those delicious new units and thingies yet, this is neat.

So much to play with and so begins the long sleepless night.

Posted by: Mizo 3 Dec 2016, 20:15

The AI has a new fund system based on their acheivements :

Naturally they get a very small amount of income every minute , around like 1500$ but that improves when the AI reaches milestones such as keeping their tier1,tier 2 alive, building a superweapon, expanding, killing a considerable amount of enemy units ect...

If they stay dry for more than 1 minute, they will get a considerable income boast just to help them out abit, but nothing too fancy.

Glad you are enjoying it smile.gif

Posted by: chemisthypnos 3 Dec 2016, 20:34

Wow. I can't wait to play this. Thank you so much for all of your hard work, SWR team!!!!

That's awesome and sensible enough. You can bet your ass I'm having fun with this, with any luck I might be able to get the bug hunter license while playing.

In general i am pleasantly suprised with this public beta. I am really gonna enjoy checking out the new units and abilities, the AI has me very excited.

Oh and by the way, this line is a great example of ROTR storytelling:
Due to the helicopters' non-existent armor, the pilots are known to chew khat in order increase their reflexes and banish fear before going on missions.

Love it and thank you for releasing this

THANKS SWR! smile.gif

I haven't been able to play since i lack a mouse, but the AI looks very promising. Easy does what it is supposed to do: Go slow, still showcase all the units and give new players a changen to try things out. Medium is how medium should be more presure by sending more units and teching up faster. I didn't check hard, but on the other two there are big battles, base expansions, ambushes and other skirmishes going on around the map. I like it, can't wait to use the munition bunker molemines.

The people on moddb have no idea what is coming their way biggrin.gif

Nice!! other great update :-) Waiting for the big launch :-)

Shit got too cocky and I almost got rekt by an easy Russian AI with his China buddy AI, they focused me like crazy, all those planes, goliat enabled hinds and god damnded artillery. Is this payback for all my bullying to the poor old AI? Did I mention the russkies just planted a grumble just outside the range of my mortars? Like zero fucks given.

This will take some time getting used to, it's almost spooky.

Yeaaaaah...later. Much later. Incredibly later even. Need to get better macro because the usual skirmish bunker isn't cutting it anymore, but rest assured that after seeing the "easy" one I know it will be crazy. Mizo you madman.

Posted by: Mizo 3 Dec 2016, 23:09

Easy doesn't use that much artillery , or atleast it's pretty pretty tame and late compared to the other 2 difficulities.
But yeah be warned, theyre not pushovers anymore.

Posted by: 3rdShockArmy 4 Dec 2016, 0:19

This is great! Just tried the PB, and I have to say that the AI is magnificent! Way smarter and thus, much more interesting than before. Everything seems great. And the Blackbear! Jesus Christ. It's indestructible. Heroic Blackbear is the single most powerful unit in the entire game. The rate of fire, range, versatility and the sheer power. Damn.

Posted by: Hecthor Doomhammer 4 Dec 2016, 0:37

Now get your asses to post them replays so I can cast them for my Youtube channel and bring you many videos!

Posted by: SoraZ 4 Dec 2016, 0:43

Good update as usual, now let's see how long it takes until the public comes in with the first reports.

Posted by: Umpfelgrumpf 4 Dec 2016, 1:02

Hi guys,
great Update, this one and the ones in the past.
I like that you made this a public test version. I think it's a good idea to keep the player base together and I'm sure more people will participate in be in the forums because of that.
I'd love to give some feedback as soon as I have some time to play this version smile.gif.

Posted by: PiratesYarrr 4 Dec 2016, 2:10

As always, good stuff. Wish I could play again without base implosion after 10 seconds, but such is fate.

Holy shit, the Russian AI just dropped a Topol M on me. I thought this wasn't possible.

1.87 is great. While I do miss the old units, the new additions made USA much more interesting to play and the AI is now actually a good opponent. It's much harder to siege its base with all those artillery defenses but it no longer crashs the game with tons of useless units floating around.

Posted by: DELETED MEMBER 4 Dec 2016, 15:33

The AI is kicking my ass for the first time over a decade, as a compstomper i feel like this is the best update so far

Posted by: XAOC-RU- 4 Dec 2016, 17:54

THis is just great! At last all community is able to play and test new 1.87 update and enjoy it smile.gif. Hope I will able to download to play before stream starts smile.gif

It wasnt possible with the first version of TOPOL. In 1.86 they recieved a change, the team did some adjustments to the topol (to fix a certain bug) and after that it became possible. I even used it in a special scripted map to make players dont exceed the main arena. In 1.87, The topol is now functional.

Silo on the other hand still uses the old logic, Hence the AI can't use em.

Posted by: X1Destroy 4 Dec 2016, 19:02

I see. Well, silo have unlimited range so it would be a pain in the ass to fight off both the incoming tanks while trying to shut it down.

How about Claymore?

Posted by: {Lads}RikerZZZ 4 Dec 2016, 20:55

Last i heard mizo could not get the claymore working, but i think hes still trying to figure it out.
Might be a 2.0 addition smile.gif

I have two copies of the game i've tried, it's rather irritating as installing both games is time consuming.

erm u just install it once get that copy working then just copy paste the zero hour folder to make a second, u dont need to phyicly install it twice

Posted by: Arc 5 Dec 2016, 23:06

And that's how you get 8 mods at the same time!

Posted by: Atmospheric 6 Dec 2016, 5:21

Whoever (the SWR team or a single person) who have re-designed the USA units for 1.87 did a splendid job. USA now, as compared to 1.86 and earlier versions, is simply amazing. I am talking in terms where you play as USA and not the AI. Quite a commendable job, guys. Kudos to you all & keep up the good work.

I don't mean I installed two instances of it, I assumed it was because someone had used the CD key from copy of the game I own so I uninstalled and tried the other to the same effect.
