easiest c&c version to install, win 10 help

Ive always had a lot of trouble installing this game on my machines. Is there a version where I can just install and have it "work"? Im sick of playing with .ini files etc and nothing works. At this point Id rather spend money getting this game to work. p.s. completely unrelated but does anyone know if its possible to connect a Logitech keyboard (Bluetooth) without the proprietary dongle?

Did you install the game from an original copy (I'm not gonna judge you if you say no)? Did you remember to install both patches (1.08 & 1.04)?
