In the winter of 2047, NSA code breakers picked up information on a top-secret project of General Aleksandr’s Advanced Weapons R&D Corps: Dubbed “Kholodnaya Stal” – Cold Steel – the project centred around the nascent field of military cybernetics and had been going on since the late 2030s.

Based on these findings, a covert intelligence team was dispatched to the Sudanese borderland, where Aleksandr had been stationed during that time, but their investigation of the abandoned, sandstorm-swept base near Kurmuk provided no clues, only an underground tunnel that had been sealed through demolition several years prior.

It wasn’t until the joint Euro-American offensive into Germany in the spring of 2049, when the true extent of the project became known: During the advance on Frankfurt, an armoured company of the US 1st Cavalry Division came under attack amidst a heavy rainstorm. Within the span of fifteen minutes, the unit suffered more than sixty casualties at the hands of a single attacker.

Traumatised witnesses and tactical camera footage revealed a tall mechanical creature whose sole human feature was a cadaverous face distorted by rage and pain. Armed with a 12.7mm machine gun and a new type of Tesla weapon capable of firing highly volatile energy projectiles reminiscent of ball lightning, the cyborg methodically annihilated several Bradley fighting vehicles while giving off a series of harrowing half-robotic chants before disappearing into the rain.

An analysis of the recordings managed to reveal the content of the creature’s morbid exclamations: “Kirill Stepanovich Sokolov – eighth battalion, fourth regiment, first Shock Division – shock wave after shock wave – our black banners flying in the wind – for victory, for victory.”

Further assessments concluded that Kirill Sokolov was a platoon-level officer who had killed several European resistance fighters and civilians during the occupation of Berlin, until he was shot and seemingly killed by Frank Jaeger in a failed attempt to assassinate General Aleksandr during an award ceremony for Sokolov’s service.

Following similar attacks on US and European troops during the battle of Germany, it is assumed that there may exist at least fourteen other highly distinguished Shock Troopers that have been turned into these mechanical abominations after their apparent death. All coalition forces are advised to only engage these dangerous combatants with overwhelming firepower.

Encountered very late into the war by European and American forces fighting in Germany, these Cyborg Troopers are the twisted result of a decade-long project by General Aleksandr. Over the course of the war, a small number of highly decorated Shock Troopers who fell in battle were brought back to life, if it can be called that, through experimental cybernetics. With most of their body replaced by machinery, electronics and crude artificial organs, these troopers possess extraordinary resilience and stamina and have been outfitted with heavy firepower to continue fighting for their general even in death. Their left arm has been replaced with a double-barrelled 12.7mm heavy machine gun while their right arm accommodates a new type of Tesla weapon that fires ball lightning projectiles that obliterate infantry and knock out vehicles in a large area upon impact.

It should be noted that the Cyborgs are not an official unit/addon for Rise of The Reds and they'll be available for public use in form of a fan addon. The release date for the said addon is "unknown".

and a special thanks to MARS for helping me out in preparing this article with his great writing skills.

If you ever decide to invade Russia, for the love of God, bring some warm clothes. We don't want you to blame the "evil Russian winter" when you get crushed, like everyone else who tried.

Jesus, bro! omfg.gif Looks AWESOME! beer1.gif
BTW, what about that Ogre addon of yours? Will you release it? Not asking when.

Thank you smile.gif

The Ogre is gonna receive an overhaul (along with the Volga Jet APC). I will certainly release it, yes, but the "when" will remain unknown, but it'll be shortly after 1.87 (or 1.9) release.

Perfect. Can't wait, brother! This Cyborg thing, the Volga APC, and the Ogre (I bet you have more surprises) will kick ass. beer1.gif
