Hi guys, I would like to ask you if you are planning to implement some sort of opening
audio sequence to RotR (or ShW) like it is in vanilla Generals and ZH to show some iconic units from every faction and maybe one or two superweapons in action to give the player an epic atmosphere and give a small taste of what awaits him in the game. Also I prepared a small poll for us fans to vote and discuss of what we think about it. Thank you for the votes and replys and a big thanks for the developers for making the best mods for Zero Hour. Best regards Warhawk |

I'm looking into making one when ROTR is more complete... I'm pretty sure the dev team have no plans to make one

I think the same that it needs to be in more complete stage to make one for it. But I'm looking forward to see your final product.

The way I see it.
The intro vidoe for Generals and Zero Hour are they to get you hyper for a game. but once you see it once, normaly you just bypass it. (unless you wish to watch it again). So... I could say it would be nice to have one to hyper poeple up before playing but not realy needed, a good shell map and the game itself is all I need. But then again. IF they is a story (pin down) to follow when 2.0 (RotR) is release maybe use the intro to tell part of the back story.... I guess there a few ways you could use the the intro vidoe, for SW you could just use it to show off all the really cool unity and new things. thats my 2 cents... -------------------- This is so on the ball----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m4SCUaBHS8

It can always serve as both. I sometime load vGens or vZH and watch the intro video, just because I hadn't seen it in ages.

@Massey: I like how you explained your thoughts and I agree with you to some point that a lot of people watch it only once, but also it would be a nice addition especially for Shockwave. I am from the few players who like to watch it again sometimes and it gives me a very good mood before playing the game. Well I didn't think that it could serve as a story teller but... Wow! I think that would be epic! Nice idea, but it would have to be in a more detailed form than in VGens or ZH.
@Aaron: As some sort of a trailer wouldn't be a bad idea either, I think there is already one for ShW 0.95 and Pickysaurus is making also one for RotR. @Pickysaurus: Agreed. I like the Massey's idea as a background story teller of what happened with the world after the ZH conflict, it would be a nice addition expecially for some lazy players who don't like to read a lot of text about the story. What do you think guys? Best regards Warhawk edit: Forgot to mention Picky's work This post has been edited by Warhawk: 9 Oct 2010, 3:57 |

Personally, I think the campaign will do introductions to units and gameplay the proper justice, eye candy never constitutes to real in-depth gameplay and mechanical aspects of a game.
Saying that, I also believe that if the production team has a hour or two to spend on an intro video, or even fan-made it's certainly not going to do the mod any harm. But it seems the team will always sacrifice aesthetics for functionality and quality, it's a good thing and they should keep it up! This post has been edited by joezeffer: 10 Oct 2010, 2:25 |

I had a other thought on the weekend about this intro idea.
just a plain background story could be a hit and miss idea. So given that the SWR team is from all around the world and you guys like doing "news" updates..... Why not have a few news vidoes telling of the past events of the "gap" years for the Intro vidoe. To give you a E.G have NergiZed do a news report on China's "nuke cannon" QUOTE Budapest Convention of 2027. Comr4de could do a USA news story on something USA.. Hunter can do a story on ECA... I am not sure if there are people from Russia or they abouts in the SWR team. but have someone with a Rusissan accent do one on some Russian news.GLA would be a little harder to do but maybe have a news story say they are rumors that the GLA are still around... or something.And/or have the news storys back to back. Depending on they place in time you could do something like: C,G,U,R,C,E,...Etc until the last event before Rise of the Reds. then again this is just a other rusty spoon idea -------------------- This is so on the ball----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m4SCUaBHS8

Video updates require significantly more effort than text and renders

Video updates require significantly more effort than text and renders I meant for the intro vidoe. Almost like the ZH intro, minus the game play and general pic's, just to give some info on past events leading up to the game. I didnt mean make vidoe updates. -------------------- This is so on the ball----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m4SCUaBHS8
