Cool. The Europeans now have a sleeker target for mine drops, and now need not rely on American Field Hospitals for a triage structure (the Medic manned Pandur exists, but I doubt it has room for Infantry).
And I suppose the Medivac cannot be shot down because: -It is against the Geneva Convention. -The medivac is armed with a system that prevents them from being a target [similar to the TMD (is it untargetable?) or Goliath]while the minelayer, to make room for mine dispensers, cannot be armed with said system And I think the second answer is the most probable. |

Great work on this model and skin,I really like how this medic ability is just a tiny detail in which was put so much effort
but it gives impression how there is a all out war,I mean all kinds of aircraft are flying around doing stuffs... Question as always... When you call in for Mine Drop are there going to be few choppers or just one doing that and will it have same health stats as Vulcan ? |

Minor thing: put the video fullscreen and watch the heli closely, you can see the animation of doors opening clearly.

Question as always... When you call in for Mine Drop are there going to be few choppers or just one doing that and will it have same health stats as Vulcan ? One heli with less health and also moves abit slower (the area it covers with mines remains the same) This was done to prevent people from using the minedrop offensively to "carpetbomb" an approaching force with mines. -------------------- |

Well it have sense to me,since that GP was supposed to be more of a defensive one, meaning that aircraft dropping those mines don't necessary need to be exposed to heavy AA other GP aircraft would. Also one more question, why there is no lore to this unit ? In most cases we at least get few lines. |

Right. The reason these choppers cannot be shot down is the same as to why the DZ airlifter cannot be shot down: It's a visualisation with no bearing on the actual game and any attempt at making it impact the game in any way would be more trouble than its worth, whether due to technical reasons or because it makes the entire feature less desirable to use.

I like that medevac chopper, adds a degree of believability and "solves" the fanbois' problems of "why i can just sell their bodies instead of reviving them".
Looking forward to the next stream...if I my 'net could stream Twitch as fast as YT that is. -------------------- "Not in mood...go away..." "We are going to have to act, if we want to live in a different world." Bringing wrath to a forum near you since 2009! |

Okay... I do not see how the offensive carpetbomb was a bad thing. Will there be a compensation (like lower cooldown time?) This post has been edited by Karpath: 4 May 2014, 16:14 |

I think I forgot to mention: I was referring lore-wise. For example: The DZ blimp is not targeted, as it would be a massive waste of resources (such a massive one that it may turn the tide of a battle) to destroy a huge airship (this is just my speculation). There doesn't need to be an in-lore explanation for anything because any attempt at providing one would only draw more attention to inevitable inconsistencies. In fact, as far as lore's concerned, DZ blimps would be priority targets and Alek's people would shoot down medi-copters just like anything else. Perhaps they even do it out of sheer spite to make a point that no one will ever be safe from them because unlike the bigger part of Russia, Aleks actively drills his troops to hate the enemy.

ignoring the "is magic" joke, one could assume 1-mine dispensers can be take out easy 2-part of the cockpit glass work as a door 3-there is a door in the back 4-there is no cockpit, is paint, the helicopter is actually a drone 3- it is. But yea, it mainly happened because the minepods had be that large, and they simply covered the side doors... >< All in all it was a little oversight really since the medevac was finsihed first.^^ -------------------- |

Just saying, there's targetable drop-off vehicles in Xenoforce but they will provide sight for the player buying the drop-off vehicles. Also it's hard to imagine there are replacement DZs... -------------------- And then...

Just watched the stream, was freaking amazing, 2 hours of RotR goodness (except for the occasional mismatches) especially with the end battle. I wish we could've seen the end.

You should totally make him say "Frak you" when deploying the mines.

I was hoping that the ECA would get some sort of transport chopper with a light gun maybe but it was a false hope!
I do love the new mine laying chopper cosmetics though, much better than the Vulcan as that went out of service many years ago! |

The main reason we added that helicopter was because the wanted to turn the minedrop into a purely defensive power instead of something you can drop right on top of an enemy formation. But since it'd be weird and counterintuitive to see the same plane used with different speed/armour values for different powers, we replaced this one with a chopper so that we can also change its stats to reflect its intended purpose accordingly. The Vulcan will remain in use for smart bombs, neutron bombs and grand slams however, realism be damned. If we cared for that sort of thing, Europe wouldn't even have a strategic bomber, period.
