Hey guys,
I'm having a bit of a problem making up my mind about something. Last night I got sent away from my local ATC squadron, because of a huge argument I had with the staff. Now all of them have a thing against me. It was spurred off my something I put on my facebook page. I had posted a note (like a blog) about my reasons for and against leaving the ATC. Now some of the comments made in said note were not based entirely on fact and slightly unpleasant. But I was furious to discover several printed copies of my note scattered around the staff room. I was call into the office and had a massive row with the officers about it. I then discover who it was who sold me out and said my peace to them too. I know it wasn't the best thing to write, but they have no right to do that. It's a breach of privacy. According to ATC regulations, staff are not allowed to be facebook friends with under 18s. So technically they shouldn't have seen that anyway. I have been suspending until my actual commanding officer returns and decides what action to take; We'll either decide to let it go, in which I would have some apologising to do. He'll agree with the douchebag I spoke to last night and kick me out of the ATC or I'll just quit before they can get rid of me. The guy who ratted me out, I have so much dirt on. I could get him in a lot of trouble - not least because he is 25y/o and was squaring up to me. Threatening behaviour toward minors is an offence. -------------------- |

If you're really wanting a personal opinion I personally would never go near something associated with the military due to my morals, however I'm not like everyone, and more importantly I'm not you.
This really is one of those decisions that you yourself have to do based on your circumstances and what you believe. -------------------- |

Isn't quitting yourself pretty dishonourable as well? I wouldn't choose that option in any case..

Meh, if they're gonna dismiss you anyways, you might as well just leave early; at least that would be you choosing to leave instead of them forcing you to do so.

Ehm, I don't really get it. You posted something on Facebook and because of that you got into trouble?

This could leave a permanent mark on your employment history so you might want to be careful what you do next. Speak to someone at the Citizen's Advice Bureau before you make any rash decisions.
It was spurred off my something I put on my facebook page. I don't think I need to tell you this again, but to everyone else: Never make remarks about your employer on the internet. Most employers/potential employers WILL scout you via social networking sites to see what kind of person you are. What does your MySpace, Facebook or Bebo page say about you? -------------------- |

Ehm, I don't really get it. You posted something on Facebook and because of that you got into trouble? Yeah, that's pretty much it. Although by ATC regulations, they're not actually allowed to look at it. This could leave a permanent mark on your employment history so you might want to be careful what you do next. Speak to someone at the Citizen's Advice Bureau before you make any rash decisions. I don't think I need to tell you this again, but to everyone else: Never make remarks about your employer on the internet. Most employers/potential employers WILL scout you via social networking sites to see what kind of person you are. What does your MySpace, Facebook or Bebo page say about you? I know, which is a good reason to leave instead of being kicked. But there is a chance I can sort it. They are not my employers. The ATC is a volunteer youth organisation supported by the RAF. I do it for fun... well I used to. All my social network pages have level of privacy on them, so good luck to the employers -------------------- |

One of many reasons I only post with synonym. @Question: I am not really sure, but if you really are to be dismissed anyway, you can just as well leave earlier. |

Well, if he does move to get you kicked out, you can spill the beans. That'll give him something to think about. -------------------- "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. Mudslinging about the tattler won't work, because the issue at hand is your conduct. Anything the other person may have done regardless of severity will be a separate issue. If you want to bring that kind of ammunition out, you will need to stay there to maintain credibility. If you leave and decide use it, what good will that do for you?
Try to smooth things over. If the content of your message is offensive to others, apologize for it. However, you can bring up that the distribution of your message in such a fashion constitutes a violation of your own personal privacy under the organization's own regulations. In the future, you should be careful of what you choose to say on the Internet. If I recall correctly, a woman in your country vented her grievances in an inappropriate fashion on facebook. Her employer, who was on her list, caught wind of it, and fired her promptly. It was reported in the Toronto Star, (what are the newspapers coming to these days?) but you should be careful of what you choose to say online because it is viewable by others who may not be entirely confidential. |

I'm curious as to what you had said. Your actions now should be at least relatively dependent on the severity of your statements.

Well mum wants me to appeal it. So she will be doing so on Wednesday.
But I have told them I am leaving. I am appalled with how I have been treated. 5 years of loyal service for this! ¬¬ -------------------- |

Thanks for all your support guys.
This has been hard and without your thoughts and opinions I'd probably have done something very irrational a long time ago -------------------- |
