I think the email address question does not belong to the user-definable part of the survey, it could be possible that it's a trick to obtain email addresses. It's optional and I don't see why anyone would want to provide it.

This is the reason why i kept myself as a mysterious guy playing ROTR tongue.gif

Well, I took the survey. I'm assuming this has to do with the AI patch you made, Mizo? The one here http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.php?showtopic=10922 ? I use that AI patch in my games even though I don't use RGO, and I'm assuming that you mean to balance it in relation to the main game as included, and not specifically RGO? I answered the survey with that in mind, because the base RotR game's AI sucks terribly and a survey for that should just have one question with two choices...Does the RotR AI suck? ---> *it sucks/*it doesn't suck, second option would be a lie most foul tongue.gif . I'll be commenting based on all this.

Most of the survey questions were generic and don't really convey what all could be adjusted, based on the nuances of each faction.

For instance, all the ECA AI difficulties are pretty weak in this version of the AI patch and don't play defensively enough like the faction is geared for, while all the Chinese AI difficulties are pretty balanced save for the brutal that has this weird pause at the start where it doesn't build enough units to fight off another brutal that well, though it does go into SUPER WHAMMY MODE as it should after that initial confused phase, at least compared to the Russian brutal AI that starts asskicking as soon as it is able.

The USA AI needs to REALLY know what units to field against another faction...for instance they should make more Javs, Chaps, Tomahawks, and Vanguards against China just to hold the line better, but instead they tend to build ALOT of crusaders...one of the most crap units in the entire game, at least as far as I'm concerned. Though there are some people that say they are good. USA should also field drones more...especially the wittle spiders awbot.gif .

GLA needs to use demo traps and...everything explody av-7.gif more really, as well as not throw away its light airforce so easily. ECA needs to use all its minelaying units more and as I said make more DEF.

People have complained about the AI's massing choppers...I don't have a problem with them using mass choppers...what I have a problem with is when they stupidly send all their choppers to their deaths in my AA, lol. What they should be doing is using their whirly birds to tear apart things on the ground away from AA more. Or only being bold against lighter AA or in a mass operation with other units.

All the AI's need some tweaking and to use more of their units, especially against different factions and for different purposes better, but I find that Russia and China are the best AI's overall, while USA and ECA are the worst...GLA is...finnicky...one minute it thinks it is China and kills everything, then the next minute it has terrible AI like ECA. GLA do pretty good ambushes, as I commented on that other thread I believe, but they need to do them ALOT more...and out in the open more too, not just at an enemy base.

Even though I answered on the survey tactics and ambushes and not brute force and spam, I'd like to see both...though more of one than the other for factions that are geared for one over the other, but knows when to do the opposite the best that the AI can figure.

Make the different AI difficulties not ignore capturable buildings for some strange reason

There is probably more that I can't think of right now...but I do want to say that I appreciate you making the AI patch and I hope you don't make the AI weaker, just tweak certain things. Even if you are not able to implement everything people want in it, what we have even now gives alot more than the base AI, and for that I thank you for your efforts and spending your time to make it awesome.

As I said this was all in reference to the AI in your patch, hopefully being made integrated into base...because the base AI sucks most terribly. happy.gif

Yeah, you can tell I hate the base AI with a passion, and desperately want you to standardize it closer to that patch.

Yay .. I got fans tongue.gif

I can't disclose everything on what the 1.87 can do , but lets just say it's gonna be able to do a lot more things that the base/RGO AI couldn't before. I'll leave that to your interpretation.
It's gonna definitely be more well refined than RGO, since by now I've attained better experience in scripting and learned to optimize things further. That doesn't mean it's gonna be as difficult as RGO, but definitely not gonna be a walk in the park either.

In RGO, I intended to get the AI to build an overloaded amount of units, infinite money/ General Points and ridiculously frustrating rushes , which isn't really fun for everyone. My aim now is to create a fun AI, that isn't frustrating nor boring to play against.

That is very good news to hear. I hope for the best. happy.gif

Interestingly enough, I got the idea to come here and check the latest updates on the AI because I was checking on the Taleworlds forum for when patch 2.025 was going to be released for Viking Conquest, and for some strange reason it gave me the idea that I should lurk around here a bit.

I know, totally random info that serves no real purpose, but...I ramble a bit sometimes. tongue.gif

Something the AI of all the factions is dumb about is the GLA bomb trucks. The factions need to be making more detectors than what they are doing overall.

The faction with the worst time is USA, I can pretty much defend my bases while sending in bomb trucks with impunity. They never make detection to find them so I can pretty much dismantle their base piecemeal...or with a swift big bang. Hell USA doesn't make detectors hardly at all anyway.

China seems to have the easiest time...if only the AI would position its troop crawlers better and make mines on every building it wouldn't have a problem at all. Overall the only faction that puts up a fight even with bomb trucks blowing their base up around them.

Another GLA AI opponent has the same problem as USA...they don't build detection properly, if at all.

ECA doesn't build enough detection, they really need more. The AI does a little better with base centric detection like the radar chopper but the actual detector units it doesn't make enough of, if any hardly.

The Russian AI overall has the easiest time against the bomb trucks, but that isn't because it is smart about detection buildings and units, that is just because conscripts are freaking EVERYWHERE laugh.gif .

Another problem is that the AI for all the factions could do with using detectors to scout for demo traps and mines better. Demo trucks can lay down so many dang demo traps demo8.gif . Again, Russia has the easiest time not because of smart detection use, but simply because the units tend to have conscripts near them which detect the hidden things on their attack path anyway.

Hope this helps with AI balance =) .
