There are plenty of thing like nuke, toxin, flame, thermobaric, tesla weapon that can easily kill your infantry even if they try to hide behind garrison, unless you hide them in ECA upgraded Fortification or vehicle or hide them far behind the frontline like Nukeneer while having heavy tank like Overlord and Shenlong to soak the damage otherwise they just just get toasted alive if they stay too close to the combat. Is there any other good way to keep them alive especially when USA got the upgrade like Veteran Specialists and Veteran Company for their infantry?

It depends on the faction, but in my experience they are meant to die when aoe weapons appeared.
Russia have conscripts mostly to draw fire away from tanks and be a force multiplier while shocktroopers stay behind for support. The RPG conscripts gain a very long range attack after upgrade too, so they're quite safe as long as they're not directly targeted. Putting them in Miska is a good idea, because it is quite fast for a russian vehicle and it have fireports. Chinese infantry are spammable and deals lots of damage with horde bonus and propaganda. Since losses can be replenished so quickly, they need a weakness. GLA infantry are invisible except for angry mobs. They don't need extra protection. Mobs also restore lost squad members after awhile, IIRC. US infantry are not expendable, but they work better in seperated smaller groups than spam. If you're going to use them later get Air Mobility GP. Helicopters work great with US infantry. Sneak Seals and enforcers around to blowup buildings, rangers with flashbang to takeout hordes for CIA intelligence and use laser-guided missile defenders to provide AT support for your vehicles when attacking. Use pathfinders in a group of 4 or 6, and switch to silencers. Don't worry about the decreased damage, they gains faster ROF and being able to fire without uncloaking is a big plus. USA is the best faction for combined arms, but not the easiest to use. Good use of choppers and ambulance can increases survivability. micro your infantry carefully so that you don't send them into immediate danger. they are not vehicles with a lot of health.
as the above comment says, a lot of infantry have defensive measures to keep them alive for longer, and a lot of them are actually fairly tanky, just don't run them straight into the Shenlong try and make usage of transports to get them to front line where they can support your vehicles or flank enemy artillery or t2 aa. finally, they ARE the cheapest units in the game, it makes sense for them to die to a lot of things. But that does not mean they are useless. |

Ways to keep them alive:
-Micro to not only spread them out but use their abilities properly. i.e. switch a chinese rifleman to bayonet and he can single handedly kill a large group of units like AT troops -Put them in cover like buildings or units like GLA battlebus -Support them with armor to tank the damage or aircraft to deal high DPS to any threats Also with some units like Angry Mobs or those Chinese reservists, you get so many that it doesn't matter because if even a few get through to attack, they deal a lot of damage.
