Activision might have plans on making their games a "pay to play online" product in future.

Yeah I had torrented the game because there was no demo. This just made sure that I will never actually buy it.

If they do go forward with this there's a pretty high chance piracy will increase.

Seems so but i have always been heavily against the "pay to play online" concept and will refuse to sponsor publishers or designers by buying games which feature and i will not change my mind if they do this with populair serries which are "free" now.

I had tendencies to verbalize my opinion in a very profane way when reading this. Oh shit... like we would be 'willing' to pay for the Dragon Age Golem campaign as an additional service.. next to the launch of the game.

Ironically there are already millions of people worldwide that do this for MMOs.

Ironical nothing, there is a difference between "pay for play" like many MMO and other is "pay for the game, pay for play, pay for the patchs, pay for maps" duh_worm.gif

why i am suspecting they had this planned since a long time and IWnet is just one of the steps?

Because Activision's general approach is to squeeze as much money out of the consumer as possible?

Nothing wrong with pay to play , in that case your getting a equal share like everyone else is.
In most free to play MMOs ive played the person with money gets a massive advantage over those who play for free.

You present a good point Zhao - but the free players get an experience of the game for several reasons
1) To give them a preview before they buy
2) To let them have some kind of gameplay if they can't afford the full game
3) To see what subscription players get and how much better they are tongue.gif
