A new service launches tomorrow, called GameCrush, where men can pay money to play over Xbox Live with an “attractive girl”.

Yes, this is real. Xbox Live prostitution, if you will.

Interested, lonely men (or cashed up pranksters) can sign up to the site, and once there, choose from two options: play a simple Flash game (checkers, etc) against a “PlayDate”, where you get face-to-face time with one of these “attractive girls” over a webcam, or join them for a bit of multiplayer over Xbox Live.

A single game of either will cost you $US8.25, with Xbox Live matches running for 10 minutes, and Flash games for 6.

Girls somehow interested in this should know there’s money to be made, with 60 per cent of the proceeds from a match going to the “PlayDate”, who at the conclusion of a game can be rated by the user on her “hotness, gaming skill and flirtiness”.

GameCrush is restricted to those 18 years old and over, and players can select one of two kinds of match/date. I’ll let the site’s FAQ explain. “We have created two broad categories, “Flirty” and “Dirty” to help the PlayDate define and match her mood of gaming interaction and experience with those of the players. You can choose either option or both depending on how you feel!”

There are already 1200 “PlayDates” registered on the site, some of whom are serious about the whole thing, others less so, while others were born in former Communist states, caught whiff of the scent of internet money and stuck out their tits accordingly.

It’s so hard trying to decide whether this is the best thing we’ve ever seen, or the worst. Might need to flip a coin.

There are four Xbox 360 games supported so far, those being Halo 3, GTAIV, Modern Warfare 2 and Gears of War 2. If this somehow takes off, you can expect more platforms, as well as MMO titles, to be supported.

The general public holds two common misconceptions about gamers. One: We're violent and if we ever get our fingers on a real gun, we shoot people because playing Call of Duty all day has turned us into cold killing machines and, even more strangely, amazing marksmen who actually know how to handle guns just by looking at them. Two: We're lonely, basement-dwelling trolls with no grasp of reality and body hygiene and our total lack of social skills stigmatises us as a laughing-stock. And while these two stereotypes may hold true for certain parts of the gamer community - because every stereotype does have a little bit of truth in it - most of us tend to be friendly people who just happen to enjoy a new medium which hasn't been fully accepted by the old farts who somehow decide what's 'good for us' yet. Until then, we'll keep getting weird looks. 'What, you're a gamer? Like one of those lonely freaks who play World of Warcraft all the time?' Websites like this only serve to keep this stereotype alive and like it or not, we're gonna have to deal with it for a while longer...Until there's a new trend that gives them a new target to laugh at.

Come to my university, our media informatics course alone has 15 girls, and most of them might not look gorgeous but are nice and smart, not some overzealous, self-righteous bit***s you can meet on every corner these days. We DO have gorgeous girls as well. Hell, half our court is filled with nice, intelligent people. Being a student can be nice too

This is just f*cking bullshit. Combining sexual attractive girls with a game is not new but taking this to a new level to present 'real live' girls on webcam doing anything is just a porn-game for the man that
is desparate to have a sexual contact. It's not the nerd they are pitching as there consumer but the whole group of xbox360 users.

Ask yourself: why are there playboys, pornmovies, pornstars, boobgirls for promotion games and other stuff etc... it's because EVERY MAN likes it. It's not a nerd thing but a man thing. Because there is no market created for that kind of games they are going to try it and if succes you will see more i'm afraid.

The stereotype of a nerd was around '80s and '90s but now everyone plays games online on facebook, pc-game or a console-game. Nerd is in my opinion a person that has absolute no social skills ,large ego and a high IQ (classic example is sheldon cooper from the big bang theory).

I would much rather just play a game with my girlfriend that I went into the real world, asked out, take out on dates, and care for. Guys need to find out that it really is worth it, and its not hard either. Maybe I just got lucky, but I asked out a lot of girls before I met the girl I am dating now. What confuses me the most is, when you are playing or engrossed in a game, can you even notice the girl flirting with you on webcam? Or is it just a cover up for a web hookup over XLive?

It's probably more of an unnecessary distraction, seeing how you have to choose between 'flirty' and 'dirty' players or a combination of the two. Note the absence of the category 'girl who simply enjoys video games who might actually be a good person to game with rather than a profit-oriented camwhore' but then again, if you're looking for that kind of person, you might as well play with your real friends.
