Just a quick question I'm currently unsure about....What helicopters are the Russian faction going to receive? I know the havoc and hind are being included but in the commentary Hunter and Comr4de did a while ago there was discussion about the blackshark hokum and crocodile and I'm unsure as to what is happening ATM so if someone could shed some light it would be appreciated

If I remember correctly the Crocodile is another name (or rather the real Russian nickname) for the Hind. The Blackshark is probably gonna be exclusive to Orlov while the Havoc is gonna be the general Russian Heli, or vice versa.

Current plans are the Hind and Blackshark go to Orlov and the other two gets the Havoc. The Werewolf, a variant of the KA-50 Blackshark, is canned. It was the same model anyways. I don't know about the KA-52 Aliigator, but there isn't a model for it, and it isn't in our plans.

Currently they have only 5 Russian helicopters in beta progress.

And it's probably safe to say Aleksander won't get an unique heli, he already has a lot of goodies. |

I just got read this from Moddb. http://www.moddb.com/mods/rise-of-the-reds...-havoc#imagebox Oh that, a lot of plans have obviously changed from then. That info on Havoc is probably from the time they were planning to make the ECA defenses capable of gaining experience and stuff. I wouldn't know, wasn't around back then. Anyway like it's said in Nergized's post, right now Blackshark goes to Orlov and the other two gets the Havoc. edit - You added a link to the update archive? But the archives still also has the Werewolf listed, which has been canned according to the same post. :/ This post has been edited by SpiralSpectre: 3 May 2012, 19:27 |

Hind = Mi-24 = Crocodile = already in the mod, will later be exclusive to Orlov
Hokum = Ka-50 = already in the mod, will later be exclusive to Orlov Havoc = Mi-28 = not yet in the mod for redundancy reasons, will later become the standard Russian attack chopper for Aleksandr and Zhukov. The render that has been posted a good while ago is also outdated and has been re-made by now. And then there's going to be something entirely different. EDIT: Fixed the error with the Havoc |

I usually prefer Mi-24 over KA-50/52. Although they're not agile as Kamovs, they have better firepower and speed and AA capability. KA-50/52 is just too slow and too specialized on tanks.

Shite! That's indeed an error. It was supposed to say Aleksandr and Zhukov. My bad. Kudos to you for pointing it out.

Why everyone thinks that ROTRs Hind is Mi-24,
what if it is Mi-25 or Mi-35 ? Or some newer imaginary version ? Think about it |

Well, for one, the Mi-24 variants are still the most common and the Mi-25/35 seem to be export versions which Russia itself wouldn't use. And the in-game helicopter quite obviously isn't one of those westernised Mi-24 SuperHinds either.

In case of such big conflict like in ROTR I believe that they would use
everything on their disposal, like in case of one General power where cargo plane drops you few old empty Soviet era vehicles. |

That's not the point. In some cases of export versions, the different designation is actually just that: A different designation even though the tech is entirely
identical and why would they use an export designation for a chopper that isn't even meant to be exported to anyone because, I don't know, World War III? |

I know suggestions are not accepted, but i cannot help doing this. I always had something for the hind, but the super hind versions are really awsome. And since this game has a future timeline any chance the hind gets a improved design ... closer to this:

And why would Russia not do some modernisation to existing Hinds ? There is always a chance that lorewise they indeed modernised the Hinds but the improvements just ain't so graphic. Like lorewise over 95% of the parts of the Gatling Tank have been modernised to some degree. But not many would say that after looking at it. http://www.moddb.com/mods/rise-of-the-reds...g-tank#imagebox |

Anyway it is just called Hind in game,
so that lefts much space for imagination, so it is not really important which version it is. |
