I UV Mapped the the "ScudFish" nothign much to see.
For the GLA is was thinking the PT boat (adding torpedo tubes) and making it the marauders water equivalent? Vietnam River PT boat = scorpian tank type Vietnam Swift boat = quad cannnon. does that seem sound? |

Great work, as the hull actually looks like a hull and not like the random collection of metal plates that the other one was.

i fixed the other one. besides.. that is how china rolls man.
trying to decide on a USA theme since usa ships look like Chinese ships (vice versa i guess) I like the excaliber rail guns and stealth look.. would probably add missile bays in the back? This post has been edited by CardBoardBoxProcessor: 12 Jul 2009, 10:23 |

yeah another...
USA basic shape. I took some stealth ship looks and added the tower from the aegis cruiser (which I love) now it will not clash with the chinese regular modern ship look too much. |

Nice boats, CBBP. You definitely seem to have a thing for modeling good looking naval units.

I like your Scud Ship. You created the skin or just used stock EA ones?

yeah the US cruiser I tossed togehter in like 10 minutes. I did not feel like adding the detail yet.
for skins I take the EA stuff and slice and dice it into what I have there. |

I decided i disliked the front. So I redid it..
I dunno if I should add a cannon on the front or save that for the other ship... though ships seems to be more multi-role (except for gla) |

I added a turret. I dunno if i should add a barrel or just texture it as a missile turret.
it folds up nice and flush so it keeps the angular stealth look. |

Please make suggestions. I feel it needs some changes before I texture it.

I love the Scud Boat - fantastic stuff, and the skin makes it nigh perfect.
With regards to the US cruiser, I'd have to say that while the Ticonderoga's superstructure is highly distinctive, I personally think copying it precisely makes this design look extremely top-heavy and unstable (the Ticos do anyway it's true, but then they have a much longer superstructure behind the bridge & SPY-1 arrays). The other details are awesome but I'd advocate reducing the height between the hull top and the bevel by at least a quarter to a third. Okay. I agreed with you on the lack of super structure.
I wonder if I should move the engine exhst tower behind the missile ports and raise them a whee bit... ?? what do yall think? I am itching to texture it. This post has been edited by CardBoardBoxProcessor: 13 Jul 2009, 9:08 |

-shrug- no body likes the chinese boat lol Not at all, it's very good; I just mistook your intentions earlier to be going for an exact copy. As it is it works very nicely for a Generals mod.what do you mean by "and the bevel by at least a quarter to a third. " I was referring to the section between the hull and the step-in below the bridge (i.e. the straight-sided block beneath the part where the radar panels are situated) - I felt it needed to come down a bit. However now that you've added a longer superstructure it looks much more balanced than it did before, so I retract that suggestion.-------------------- |

here is fix option number 2. I felt the previous fix made it look too much like most boats today. granted today is quickly becoming tomorrow.

no. the Chinese that has already be crafted gets little compliments lol.
that aegis is going to US. I am also contimplating Zumwalt type Battleship. but that is next. I hate to leave things untextured. the problem is all of America's stuff looks different so less EA stuff will be used I am sure. UV mapped and texported lol.
