Well, heres my shot at giving life to the skirmish maps.
Disclaimer: This isn't to be taken seriously as part of this mod, the original Generals and its expansion Zero Hour or any story the development team for SWR Productions or Electronic Arts may or may not have been planning for above mentioned objects. Chapter One: Alpine Assault Location: Little Alpine Time: 8:00 AM EU Hawthorne Base Monthly Inspection Today was Little Alpine's USA Monthly Inspection. The town was chosen to be an outpost three years ago for recruitment and training of the USA's rookie Rangers and Missile Defenders and were given subsequent protection of patrols of the fresh recruits until they entered mainstream combat operations wherever they were needed. Usually, one of the current generals' officers would come and inspect the base in leiu of the generals' themselves, who were attending to higher duties than to inspect an out of the way base such as the one in Little Alpine. In fact, the only General who would do this occasionaly was General Ironside, who the populace of Little Alpine loved. He was rather friendly with the locals and was recorded to spend an evening with the locals drinking at the local tavern! A loud rumbling sound of spinning rotors soon filled the airspace as three chinook helicopters made their way to the outpost, most likely carrying the inspector for the month. An emblem of the Air Force General, Malcolm Granger was seen on the side of the chinooks as they flew past. High in the skies, the inspector for the Air Force General, a man known in the files as 1st Lt. Kevin Bowen sighed. When he came into rank a year ago, he pictured leading squadrons of birds across the GLA bases and watching from the command center as they burned and collapsed from their obviously flimsy stone structures from superior bombing runs. He certainly didn't feel like doing monthly inspections in out of way bases and doing paperwork behind a desk all day! All he had to do was to make sure that nothing was terribly wrecked and report back to the captain about the normalcy of the base, nothing new there... As soon as his chinook escorts and his own pilot began decending altitude to the base, he began putting his outer uniform back to his person once again, his navy blue coat and hat, and gathered his clipboard and began his usual meet and greet with the local commander and officer staff... How Boring... South of the USA base, just south of the city limits to Little Alpine, a myriad of hushed voices and footsteps were making way to a clearing deemed stable enough for base construction. When a civillian came over the clearing to see what the loud bang came from, he found nothing of the sort. Of course, he wouldn't live to say anything as a hand out of nowhere grabbed him and covered the screaming man's mouth before a squelching sound silenced the terrified man's screams of terror. A sinister laugh came from seemingly out of the air as sounds of construction continued undiscovered for the time being. As soon as Kevin finished his rounds, he saluted the Commander of the base and began boarding his helicopter. He passed on orders from USA High command (Given to him by General Granger himself) to the commander to begin decomissioning the excess power plants the base had in abundance. He also passed on the orders that only Infantry was to be trained here and that the fondly nicknamed "War Factory" was to begin deconstruction and selling off its materials to pay for the base's expenses. A supply drop zone was authorized by the General to suppliment the monthly expenses the base builds up but in exchange, the strategy center had to be shut down for a month to update its software and hardware. Another job well done...now if only the trips here and there wasn't so mundane and had a little action to it sometimes. As soon as the rotors began turning, he watched as the other two Chinook escorts from a bunker converted airborne office window, containing some of the General's specially trained HALO Rangers and Missile Defenders went on ahead in armored Combat Chinooks trying (and unnecessarily, Kevin thought) to secure the area. He followed behind in a slower fashion as the Chinook took to the skies, confident that there was no direct threat other than the occasional pigeon that would get stuck and splattered upon the chinook's twin rotors. He wasn't prepared for the two armored escorts to start dropping from the skies in an explosion that rocked the Chinook he was on. A sudden jerk of turning from the pilot nearly unbalanced him as he began to make his way to cockpit of the helicopter. A frantic pilot, something that was usually unheard of in the General's forces was trying to make for the base they just left as explosions rocked the tail of the Chinook. The Pilot hit his countermeasures drop button repeadedly as he began to pick up speed to outrun whatever was hitting him. "Pilot, don't let up! I'll begin seeing the damage from out back!" He ordered the pilot as he made his way to the back of the damaged Chinook. The metal ramp that made his stairway from before was flapping dangerously loose as he began ordering to small crew to begin stablizing the flap as to not invite whatever hit them into the interior of the Chinook and have them blow up into kingdom come. It was too late as the metal flap broke loose and into the ground below as Kevin realized what hit them. A large group of GLA infantry was jumping out of pickup trucks and were forcefully entering into Little Alpine's homes and driving out the citizens. Some citizens were forced to jump out the second story of their own homes and landed painfully as other infantrymen laughed in glee before splattering the brains of the injured souls all over the ground via their machineguns. A few GLA rocket troopers were obviously having fun turning the town's courthouse into rubble with their RPG launchers and a maniac trooper strapped with explosives broke into a work truck and rammed himself into the town's water tower, killing himself in the process in a blaze of glory. Kevin only looked in horror as a tractor filled with green goo began spraying into a building as terrified screams of horror reached the shocked lieutenant's ears. He mostly heard the screams of terrified children and could only wonder if those monsters hit the town's orphanage. The Base that he inspected was coming into view as more of those pickup trucks containing soldiers stopped a few meters behind the hurt chopper as they piled out to do some more damage to the chaotic town. Kevin could only shut out the screams of horror and desperate pleas of help from below as the civillians were either carted off to god knows where, shot at or was the product of that green goo from the driver of that tractor. The base's on patrol Rangers and M. Defenders were rushing out of their Barracks to try and stop the GLA attacks from harming any more civillians and a loud alarm was sounding all over the base grounds as men and women were running toward their assigned posts in case the invaders decided that their base was next. An officer to the base's commander greeted the battered pilot and Kevin as the pilot was escorted to the Barracks for injury treatment and Kevin was lead into the command center. His first view intel on the enemy's movement would prove vital as each side prepared for a bloody battle. The Alpine Assault has begun. So, what do you think? tbh i find writing stories on Generals maps pretty poor o_O I mean, seriously, nothing better to do? For example playing the game? Well, when you play every map on shockwave and in zero hour on hard mode against every possible opponent, you start to wonder about these things. I find that Hamachi is often full or not having the maps I would like to play against, so that option is out. Besides, do you never really find a reason as to why they fought here? Or is this in the mentality of "free ground, lets fight here!"? If you don't like it, well thats your opinion, but not everyone is gung ho and fight this just for the heck of it. Most are, yes. But there are some who wonder about it. Some are just too shy or not confident enough to post their thoughts on anywhere, for fear of thoughtless comments. Of course this is the internet, so this reply is more likely to waste around five seconds of your life. Nobody has a Issue with it , you asked about it and they gave you there opinion , Also hamachi being full, WHAT??!?
Also about the campaigns i suggest you simply make your own maps for them , then the result makes you fell much when its done This post has been edited by Zhao: 12 Sep 2009, 20:42 |

Though the story adds up some fun to the map, I think it's a bit unrealistic on GLA part. Even though they hated those people, but I don't think terrorists would laugh while killing. Terrorists often feel as tense as those who they're going to kill (I've watched Discovery Channal interviewing the hostages of Beslan). Other than that, the story is ok.

Terrorists often feel as tense as those who they're going to kill (I've watched Discovery Channal interviewing the hostages of Beslan). Other than that, the story is ok. I see, I kinda felt like that as well, but I'll write different feelings from different perspectives. I like to make sure that the character in focus, I.E Bowen, feels what he thinks he feels. The soldiers of the GLA may or may not have laughed, but thats what was going through his head at the time. For the terrorist, yeah, I'll have to give you that. I'll change the feelings of different people through these maps. USA will sometimes have exaggerations in their POV, while China may feel a sense of superiority due to their daily propoganda. GLA will feel honor in everything they do, so you will read different povs from different sides in the upcoming files I have planned for. Thanks for your opinion on the matter. -------------------- War...War never changes, but the way you tell it can decide whether it was glorious and heroic, or demonic and an act of terrorism.
