I am having a hard time just beating 2 hard armies. 1 vs. 2 on the flash effect map. I usually do all random and I get anialated. Prior to the new vesion I could beat 4 hard. Anyone else seeing the same results?

Not complaining, I think it is great. I was hoping for a more difficult AI.

I am looking for advice and or a replay of how you would play against two hard armies, say airforce and China Special weapons vs You GLA Demo.

Any thought or a game replay would be great.

I never play against 2 Hard AIs in Shockwave 1.0 before but I've noticed some interesting strategy vs AI.
- Try hard not to let AI take 2nd supply or their money would multiple by incredible amount.
- Harass their economy as much as you can.
- Destroying the oil rig is better than letting AI have it.
- If you play as GLA, fast-moving artillery is better than slow and heavy ones.

AFG and Leang are two of the most difficult AI I have encountered. Demo AA (can't remember the name) and RPG is a good combination. BRDM is a better choice than Rocket Buggy for artillery.

If you really want a challenge try Aircraft with Armor vs. Toxin. Anyone who can do that will have my respect. tongue.gif

Okay,

I'm feeling better about my lack of success. Cas. You are probably right about the money..I will give it a try but still think it will be almost impossible..If anyone can beat Airforce and Armor General as Dragon suggested please upload so we can see how you did it..

Thanks Bob

I doubt that any replay with AI involves would work properly (since AI has a lot of scripts & cheats to assist their "no brain of its own" disadvantage).

Perhaps a dumb question but ... could you clarify what you mean by '1 vs. 2'?

Are the 2 AI armies configured as being on the same team (ie, they don't attack each other)?
DragonHawk
They are allied.
Frostyarmy
Ill have a replay and a guide Soon just hold on.

HELL of a challenge, ill figure it out eventually , special weapons is fierce.

Dang it! I thought you said Aircraft vs. Armor and Toxin. XD
Anyways, that fight is hard and to long.

Oh and I'll try your challenge by today and I know this will be very tough indeed.
EDIT: Yes! I managed to survive all of their attacks and won the battle, but it took me 2 hours to defeat them.
DragonHawk
You beat them on hard?
An allied Aircraft with Armor vs you, Toxin?
Papaya Master Rai
Yes!
Map: Flash Effect
Starting Cash: $10,000
Position: Bottom Right of the map.
Against: Hard Ironside and Granger team.
Super weapon limit: Forgot to turn it on. tongue.gif

Hints/Summary against the AI:
1. Their first priorities are base defenses. (Use Pythons near your base defenses as guard to kill almost all the Aircraft).

2. Expect some group of attacks. (To counter them build a Palace and train 6 RPG Troopers on place it at the upper left corner of your base, since there are times that they ignore the Palace and attack my base defenses even if they are the ones under fire by my RPGs, also train Angry Mobs and upgrade them immediately to counter Mammoth tanks and other vehicles (remember to press the "X" button when facing artillery, so your Angry Mobs won't get a singe hit KO) You could also use Bomb trucks to counter Artillery, if you place them on bridges).

3. AI seems to have 20,000-50,000 cash in their wallets as time goes on. (There is a way to increase your cash, even surpassing the AI by spending a 3 Level Bounty Cash General Power and kill as most units as possible, never ignore those crates, collect all of them to upgrade vehicles or increase your economy. Also start capturing oil derricks in the middle from the start, after you build 2 supply stashes (one from the main base and the other on the upper right corner of the base). Oh and if you intend to capture the ones on the middle use one rebel to bunker that structure, while the other one captures the buildings to kill the rangers provoking them. And since the middle would be impossible to be benefited from when time goes by, escort them with at least two Pythons, since Granger would use Humvees, Acolyte drones and a commanche, while Ironside uses 5 Javelins and black widows to attack the bunker or kill the rebels.

4. With Jarmen Kell kill the drivers of Mammoth tanks and artillery. Get them with workers from the Command Center (since it is faster to be trained than the rebel and almost have the same price as it) and use it as your own. You could use the nerve gas bomb General power, when you can predict where most vehicles will be. Plus expect two burtons sneaking into your base planting bombs, so use Jarmen Kell against them or other Anti-infantry units.

5. Use Rocket Buggies and upgrade them immediately to counter Artillery and Tanks.

6. You can now upgrade everything if you followed the Number 3 tips to effectively counter most of the units.

7. Build 2 Scud Storm, when you think your cash is ok now. Remember those Generals would construct their own super weapons, although Ironside suffers a black-out temporarily. (Granger uses his Particle cannon on your Palace, so if you failed to destroy his Particle cannon and he activates it, sell the palace immediately and select a few units to guard that area, especially the Angry Mob.)

8. Micromanagement is your utmost priority, during the mid phase of the game (considering that you have a very stable economy).

9. When your near Ironsides base his activity increases, meaning he spams a lot of units (mostly Strykers, bradleys, Javelins, Blue Arrow defenders and Mammoths.)

10. Granger can be defeated with using Angry Mobs and a few upgraded Pythons if you micro them well.

I wish I could upload the replay, but the forums does not allow that type of file. And also what Casojin said about AI replays. smile.gif
DragonHawk
Yes, I forgot to mention the limited superweapons. With only one superweapon you can't destroy the enemy's especially with Toxin, because he doesn't have any building damaging abilities.
But congratz on the win nonetheless.

P.S. The replay actually works? Have you tried it?
Papaya Master Rai
Now that you mentioned about testing the replay. It isn't exactly reliable, since when I checked it Thrax doesn't build the things I did or what I did for that matter on the game before. O_o

EDIT: Also we could use the Tunnel Network General Power as substitute for the Second SCUD Storm and use them near the super weapons and throw out all the powerful units we have in order to destroy it and, then evacuate it and resume guarding the base. wink.gif

To make sure the replay checks out fine you have to go into a network lan lobby host a game and do it there , for 100% accurate gameplay.

It depends on the map, armor usually has a lot of defense near his SW and the tunnel is easily destroyed, and mounting an assault can be very costly as few toxin units can match his tanks especially when he has plenty of resources and 4-5 war factories.

The replay actually works if you do that? Even against an AI?

Yes
DragonHawk
Cool I need to try it out.

Well like I said a "Second SCUD Storm", so which means you already have a SCUD storm to deal with his electricity or buildings and units around the super weapon itself. But yeah your right about the map part, since the Tunnel Network is a big consumer of space and probably the enemy might have put it somewhere were it is impossible to use the General power near it.
Note: I think you might have also noticed that the Scorpions have an infantry carrier capacity, you could put in a few RPG Troopers and a Jarmen Kell on a few Scorpion tanks to deal with the Heavy units...unless artillery units are near. sad.gif
