so as I said which ones the best in terms of:

1.gameplay

2.units and factions

3. ballance

well personally I prefer hamburger.. mellow.gif sorry I mean Dark crusade necrons might be a little OP on DC but hey gameplay was good and satisfying for an rts.while SS comes with 2 new factions Dark eldars and sisters of battle but they are like trolls a humiliation for eldars and spacemarines and it added unnecessary air units which screwed the gameplay... sad.gif

but heres a good mod i wish which me and crackerjack are waiting for :
Bloodline mod for SS
X1Destroy
Dark Crusade is better for playing but SS is better for modding. It have more interesting features, though it lacked a map editor.

SS could have been much better, but it was rushed. The studio who made it got shut down right after its release so...........

BTW, I'm also interest in DOW mods biggrin.gif

Soulstorm was an abomination that should never have seen the light of day if you ask me.
I played dark crusade on a high competitive level and loved it and quite frankly refuse to play SS even tho i own a legit copy of it.

The only good thing SS spraked were all the videos and memes from the realy bad voice acting it had.

Personally i really liked soulstorm. The 2 new factions were damn cool and each offered an interesting gameplay, different enough from every other faction.
Since i only played single player, i care less for competitive gameplay and alot more for gameplay variety, and SS offers more on that than DC, just by adding 2 additional factions. That being said SS was a fken disaster with the air units part. There were so many units left from the codex to be added for each faction - why did they add air units in an engine clearly not made for them and in a gameplay that was far better without them i cannot understand. And finally SS has some really damn cool mods, even if sadly they managed to butcher the codex factions in a terrible way - like ultimate apocalypse.

I prefer Soulstorm because of the two new races that it adds. Also if you want mod based on the codex there is always the Codex mod for dawn of war SS.

Speaking of SS's terrible Voice acting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJMLfACod48

The 2 factions play a very big part in the actual lore, So they have the right to be put in the game.
Those 2 factions also have 1 very unique mechanic. For example the Faith Mechanic for the SoB Allows you cast powerful and helpful abilities depending on how much faith you have. The DE's Soul mechanic allows them to cast powerful global abilities like a Soulstorm.

The New Air units serves their role as Either fast attack units(Lightning Fighter, Barracuda, Raven)or Air Support units(Marauder bomber, Fighta Bomba,).

The Campaign in SS was quite decent, but it still gave a challenge. I completed it as IG,Orks,Tau.
DC Campaign was good and also gave a challenge. I only completed it as Tau.

Unmodded Dark Crusade is still the best DOW experience for me, for sure.

Many years ago now, I played quite a lot with Hunter and a few others, I definitely agree with him. From what I remember, the general consensus between us was that Soulstorm was in general quite an unnecessary addition to an almost-perfect game experience.

Neo3602
Well if your looking for a pretty polished DoW soulstorm mod I would suggest looking at Titanium Wars its pretty good.

Firestorm over Kaurava is pretty neat. Titanium wars make you want to play the campaign again and again. It remade the maps with the most powerful AI enemy you have ever faced before in the game.

Also checkout the independant race mods and SS stronghold mod. They are awesome as well.

Don't worry time, you'll beat me someday. ani8b.gif

Dark Crusade is much better on the campaign side of things (And Davian Thule > Indrick Boreale).

But I play Soulstorm because most mods are over there (my favorite so far is a combination of Codex + Tyranids + Black Templars).

GGGRRRrrrrr..... duh_worm.gif someday crack. someday.....

Dark Crusade was better, but Soulstorm was like a playbox with this many units... BUT:

Dawn of War, and to an extant all and every Warhammer 40k was average for me at best.
These games never showed the true extent feeling, even dawn of wars battles looked to much tactical instead of these massive "operation barbarosssa" style battles that are described.
They should finally make a game where the battles are simply massive, so it would be macromanaging intstead of micro, thats starcraft strengh and not any rts else's.
Or a space marine game where the space marine is by character a space marine and not just by gameplay... tongue.gif
Neo3602
Well dawn of war 3 was supposed to be on a much larger scale(but still have the same squad based combat), have a persistent world, and customizable armies.(Source:here), although that was from a while ago before Sega bought Relic so its up in the air now.
