Leader: Jan Smuts
Manpower: 70,000 Strategies: Counter-IED, surveillance, hunt and kill (anti-hit and run) Colour: Cyan History Although blessed from all out war South Africa faced numerous challenges during the 20s and 30s, such as reoccurring economical crisis and massive streams of displaced people from its northern neighbours. In particular the Namibian ebolavirus outbreak in 2033 put considerable pressure on the South African government. The American intervention during the Great African resource rush was seen with positive eyes since large amount of dollars poured in to the South African economy enabling the South African National Defence Force to reorganize its battalions and regiments. The American high command recognized South African's vast knowledge of bush warfare and SANDFOR's recce elements spearheaded the northern advance, which was only halted on the Congo-Angolan border. Relations with Europe was fairly good and the Commonwealth Games was organized in Johannesburg in 2042. The Games, however, was attacked by a GLA cell and was dubbed "the Second Munich". PRC was fully occupied with the East African theatre and did not have any interest in the south. Diplomatic relations with Russia however, was strained after a massacre on 500 villagers near the border of Namibia and Botswana by the 34th expeditionary unit nicknamed "Alkaev's hyenas". Force composition SANDFOR buildings are US structures with camo nets and sandbags (ECA-ish). All buildings can be garrisoned by two soldiers. Since Cold-Fusion and Particle Cannon technology blueprints are classified the South Africans had to come up with other solutions. South Africa's long struggle against GLA rebels have taught them a number of lessons. For example MRAPs and Warthogs are employed to minimize losses to mines and demo traps. SANDFOR supply lines are run by drones to minimize causalities since its supply lines are prone to GLA hit and run raids. Builder: T0, essentially GLA worker, cannot gather supplies Tracker: T0, scout unit, stealthed, can be upgraded with non-silenced SMG, stealth detection (T1). After upgrading it can be trained at both Command Center and Barracks. Detects stealth when garrisoned. Ranger: T0, anti-garrison, no change Missile Defender: T0, no change Colonel Burton: T2, no change MRAP: T0, basically uparmoured Humvee without armaments, carries six soldiers, immune to mines Missile Avenger: T0, Light AA, can target ground units, no lasers at all MGS: T1, Light "tank", Stryker with AT gun, speed over armour Warthog: T1, clear mines and demo traps, anti-garrison, heavy armour, decent damage against structures (ShW GLA Dozer-ish) G6 Howitzer: T1, Light artillery, special ability: Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI) strike Crusader MK1SA: T2, heavy tank, vanilla Generals Crusader with higher stats (compare to real-life Olifant tank) Tomahawk: T2, heavy artillery, long-range unguided missile is replaced by XM501 Loitering Attack Munition (essentially an airborne missile in guard mode, only one active per vehicle, good anti-hit and run, can be shot down) Chaparral: T2, heavy anti-air, no change Supply Drone: T0, gathers supplies, ~$200 in payload Kestrel: T½, light attack helicopter (Danel Rooivalk-ish), MG, two mutual exclusive addons: Grenade Launchers (ShW China Tiger-ish ), Gas Dispenser (ECA Nerve Gas-ish) Chinook: T½, no change Griffin: T1, multi-role fighter (JAS-39 Gripen-ish), three modes: Fighter (2 AAMs), Attack (1 Aurora bomb), Reconnaissance (large LOS, stealth detection), can change mode in-flight Battle Nest: T0, basically Firebase where howitzer is replaced by TOW launcher, can hold up to four soldiers Protector: T1, no change General Powers 1. Spy Satellite Unknown (same as USA; see ROTR - Unit List for 2.0/1.85 Google Calc) Infantry training (Rangers and Missile Defenders are built as veteran) 3. Leaflet Drop Unknown (same as USA; see ROTR - Unit List for 2.0/1.85 Google Calc) A10 Strike Mercenary Raid (1 Hind, 2 GLA Grenade Mercs; 1 Hind, 3 Grenade Mercs, 2 MG Mercs; 2 Hinds, 5 Grenade Mercs, 5 MG Mercs) Emergency Repairs 5. Cool , I'm South African sadly I don't know much about our military .
What I can give you is that for a power source coal would be most realistic as we have some of the largest coal deposits of any country I think we have the second or third largest of any country . Solar power and wind would be a good second . Our country produces a large amount of high tech high quality small arms which they sell to other countries in Africa . We also have a apparently a very good special forces both of which you should try to incoperate in the faction . Here is a nice video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yzwvIid7Dg We also make lots APC's which are quite good . We also have a hiper violent society not quite sure what that adds other than some angry civilians with guns . Also I highly Reading /Watching : - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFqIye79KS0 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African...l_Defence_Force - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWm6BjCkT54 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgc8Pfvpz9s - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl-Dkxv2w4A - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNOwCBZp6bs - http://www.globalfirepower.com/countries-listing-africa.asp - http://www.globalfirepower.com/country-mil...id=South-Africa This post has been edited by Eternity 6: 6 Feb 2015, 5:19 |

I'd suggest you avoid making rangers, MDs and burton.
While rocket guy and rifle guy are usually quite similar to their counterparts, a fancy name is mandatory. As for a commando..........anything goes! Just think of something badass is all. -------------------- |

This faciton along with plenty of other stuff mentioned cant be coded anyways so I hope you dont mind me adding something else cause I liked this very much
Suggestion:Ranger and MD to be changed, New ranger like unit:Cheap mans pathfinder (You find a name for it)I would say the rangers could be replaces with a unit that does damage to a garrisoned building via its main gun a light sniper rifle. The part of the antigarrisons is that with an upgrade probably they'll be able to antigarrison after a certain number of shots have been achived.Like how firestorms work with infernos. They would be stealthed while not moving. If they wait more then 10seconds at the same place they instantly gain that silenced antigarrisoned sniper rifle. If not they stick to a more lethal one that reveals them when firing. So campers ftw Suggestion:New MD like unit might be something like:They have a secondary firemode upgraded in T1.After this upgrade they are able to purchase something like a targeteer drone for increased rof or switching to something that works like artilary but with the same launcher. For the Drone to be more/around the same cost as the unit its sounds balenced enough for something with missle defender/rpg troopers aoe.(Barely any) For the hero unit:Its not a local man but a CIA/Africom agent sent by the US.This hero unit should be immune to mines and have the ability to "purchase" a special tank/jet/helicopter such as: F-35 as mentioned here for 3k A Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian for 2k or a Type 10 japanese tank for 1.5k that has a scorpion like speed and not such an effective gun.(Somewhat like a crusaders dps) but with each rank the gun upgrades itself(Marauder logic) so at rank 3 he can have 3barrels and a light AA Missle launcher on it. The hero itself could be used as a heavy hijacker that can swim/go over cliffs but is completely unarmed. Suggestion: Tracker should detect stealthed infantry and units only.Perhaps it could have an ability like the listening outpost to show current waypoints. But rather it would old waypoint orders given so you can use it manually to *track* unit movements.Thou you couldnt know the diffrence between a quads and a rebels tracks Upgrades WIP? Well I got a few stuff Suggestion: "Bombs are loyal to none" The Warthog gains an upgrade at t2 that allows it to be completly be immune to demotraps/mines and gain a high detection range after a kit upgrade for 800 per warthog.Ths upgrade also allows it to convert said mines, explosives and other dirty tricks to their side. Suggestion:"Atta boy!" SDZ's automaticly give you a certain bonus of cash after you've killed a number of enemey units. The U.N. Gives you aid due to the US pressuring lesser nations to support your antiterrorism effort.(Like the gla supply drop any plane can come in to drop them off)It works like bountys in a way...After 100 units are killed SDZ's will include a second drop of aid depending on the cost of the units you've killed. The catch is that each sdz can have an X number of extra supply drops. So if you kill 100 rebels early game the extra U.N. drop would be 10% of it.But lategame if you kill 100 marauders the price will be 10% of it.So you need to constantly renew your SDZ's by rebuilding them to have a growing eco at the same spots. -Suggestion: Something like a boobytrap that costs 750-1250 and has almost double the research rate as booby trap. When the target building will be garrisoned, or tried to be captured a squad of Infantry appears next to the building or target. If its a lotus capturing then the squad appears like a rebel ambush. If its a dude entering a garrison the Infantry units enter the garrison. The Unit themselves will be a somewhat millitia unit thats just the people who reside there.Think of it like arming normal people to defend their homes for their homeland Keep in mind you can boobytrap any building you want and when it gets destroyed/hole it detonates so if it gets destroyed along with your basic infantry that gets spawned(USA stlye) theese guys will spaw as well. But they gotta be selected manually for each building. Sugestion: "Ejection seats? You mean bravery pods!" The SANDFOR tanks and aircraft gain a slot for carrying 1 or 2 infantry inside them after an upgrade at T2. This upgrade either allows the craft to house infantry to be ejected with pilot logic.(Unlike the eca they dont use any other guns or something related) So they can continue fighting. Chapperal could be possible with exports. ----------------------------------------------------- General powers: Your suppply center is able to deploy a power called: Forign aid (Each rank has its own cooldown and price) At rank 1 you can purchase a CH-53 Sea Stallion thats a heavy transport that comes with eight Marines (Shockwave mods's marines) For the price of 1.800 At rank 2 you can purchase two EC 725 Caracal/Super Cougars that have 10 french forign legionares inside (What this infantry unit can do is up for debate) for 3000 At rank 3 you can purchase three MI-24 Super Hinds with 6 Mecenaries inside(The GLA mercs) for 4.500 Theese can be called in anywhere from the map and will decend from the skies with the infantry inside.Being untargetable on the decend for a few seconds.Alongside being good transport/gunships depending on ranks theese helicopters can also collect supplies. You can combine the three for an extreemly expensive but elite infantry force on demand.Cooldown can be debated but I'd say 3minutes each.
I'd suggest you avoid making rangers, MDs and burton. While rocket guy and rifle guy are usually quite similar to their counterparts, a fancy name is mandatory. As for a commando..........anything goes! Just think of something badass is all. I agree with his point. This post has been edited by (USA)Bruce: 6 Feb 2015, 13:34 -------------------- |
