nice colors! and I really like the texture
![]() however the composition could be better imo, it's a bit confusing right now :/ -------------------- |

please expand on that, always ready to learn a few tricks
![]() however i'll admit composition is one of the things i pay the least attention to. i usually use the one i come up with first and don't fiddle with it any further. -------------------- P |

at first in that picture you don't really know where the monster comes from.
then, the man in the edge is really small and placed aside (that must not be a bad thing but in this case it is simply to vague, you don't know is he important, or is he an irrelevant fact?). furthermore there is the the real composition, the invisible lines in the picture that guides the viewer and gives him subliminal impressions. you allways have to keep in mind the first thing of a picture you notice is the upper left edge (at least in the western world) so that's where your picture has to start, it must introduce the viewer into the scene, after that it's up to you where to guide him (in most cases you tell a little story by guiding the viewer arround). in that picture you guide the view right to the monsters mouth, and there it stopps, an average person looks at the picture for 2seconds and assumes he has seen everything, or starts randomly searching for other distinctive parts, but there is no real story told. also there is no peek of the story, you start with highly saturated color tones in that edge and there is no increase. neither there are lines that emphasize a spot in the picture. last but not least the greater composition is a bit sparing, like triangle for steady, horizontal for calm pictures, circle for ultimate dynamic, diagonal lines for movement, curved lines for action, etc... there are some lines visible but again they are to vague. I hope that doesn't sound to negative, but if you regard those points next time your pictures will improove dramatically ![]() you really have a talent for shapes btw ![]() if you want to really learn s.th. I would suggest to look at some tutorials, I'm far to inexperienced to really teach you s.th.. there you can find some raelly good ones: http://www.imaginefx.com/02287754333423425...o-creation.html This post has been edited by IPS: 11 Jan 2010, 23:29 -------------------- |

thanks a lot man, i'll try to focus a bit on your points
![]() it's just a bit hard to do cause i'm what you could call an emotional 'artist' (hate the word) which means i take a much less mathematical approach to drawing in general. i often have a feeling that focusing on points such as composition will take away the energy i use for all the rest (like shapes, lines and contours) thanks again nonetheless, glad you put some effort into it ![]() -------------------- P |

my pleasure
![]() well that's the difficulty, to draw with all those facts in mind, but still emotional. -------------------- |

hey peeps. long time no see
![]() selected some of my 'stranger' drawings in my booklet. i left out the serious sexual and nude themes though (safe from the phallic dog AKA 'horror 6') sorry guys ![]() the phallic dog in question. i enlarged the picture at school, copied it 26 times and stuck it onto various walls in the building. it's garnered quite some attention since then ![]() ![]() a fish, drawn at the museum of beautiful arts after having seen many a classic portrait by folks like Rembrandt, Breughel and van Eyck. ![]() pretty standard sketch, thought it looked nice enough to post though (it does look better when you can see the real-life texture on the paper and the white acryll used though...) ![]() drawn in hospital while awaiting my sleep test. ![]() an halo! ![]() hope ya'll enjoyed. -------------------- P |

Very cool skin, pretty much the most awesome first skin I have ever seen.
The rugged metal detail of the skin is cool, although won't some of it get lost if you put it in game? -------------------- ![]() |
