Before i knew they where P40 i always assumed they where supposed to be T34's, that made allot more sense to me at the time. An obsolete fleet of ex-Soviet tanks made sense in my mind too. I assumed they were some variant of the T-34. But I also imagine that a generic tank was intended by the designers. Excellent stuff either way. -------------------- "Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat" -Sun Tzu

Personally, I operate under the assumption that the Scorpion really is just a thing the GLA builds in a garage based on a loose interpretation of a viral blueprint. It's still ridiculous to see those things taking out advanced MBTs (or hell, ANY real tank), but the notion that it's custom-built still holds up better than the idea that the GLA somehow obtained this vast fleet of obscure Italian tanks from WW2. Or how Type 59s from the 1960's are able to compete against the actual MBTs of the US, CIS and ECA. |

I'm pretty sure the Scorpion is a Panzer 38 (t). turret to hull is way to big to be the scorpion and the T34 feels more long and wide i think italian tanks are more likely to be the inspiration to the basic scorpion design (more the M13~14~15 series than the P40) -------------------- |

Aw, you guys are returning to the Old Scorpion's look? But I like the Centurion-esque appearance of the current Scorpion. It fits more neatly with the early-Cold War kitbash vibe the GLA's got going.

Are those Scorpions based on some RL vehicles ? I took certain design features from various RL tanks (like the M3 or Type 95), but non of them is directly based on any. -------------------- |

Many variants for the GLA, very cool. I enjoyed the new Marauder variants, but the Scorpion were a bit strange though none of the tanks follow exactly one RL line.

Holy crap I just noticed, the second Quad version resembles the Quad from Generals 2, right? Well, the Marauder also resembles the Marauder from Generals 2: Not really. Giant Gens 2 Quad Cannon CLICK ME Not intended considering that the Quad Cannon in Generals 2 resembles that of either a garbage truck, or some sort of armored truck vehicle; but mostly a custom made vehicle with dump truck parts on the back. I really liked the flat silhouette of the Isuzu Forward since it broke the current trend of box, and then another forward box for an engine; it was more interesting to use this japanese truck. The Marauder is however inspired by Generals 2. Personally I would like to avoid any designs from Generals 2 for two reasons: One it's a blatant rip-off and unoriginal and Two: We can do better than that and create our own content. -------------------- SWR Co-Lead | Texture Artist | Modeler | Level Designer | Fan of all things Awesome |

because GLA is suppose to GOFAST, apaprently the old model wasn FASTENOUGH Not exactly, The centurion looks stronger and tougher, and the GLA was never about being stronger and tougher. Also the centurion was added back then cause the team wanted to give the GLA a more pausible post cold war feel as opposed to the silly post ww2 feel IIRC, but in the end they changed their minds and decided to go for a "homemade/junkyard" feel instead (Hence, all these build variations), and the centurion simply didn't fit in with that. Ironically, when the centurion was first added people complained as well and asked for the old scorpion to come back. -------------------- |

We do generally try to avoid such U-turns at this point in development but at the end of the day, this is for the most part a visual difference and a slight stat modification, not some insane way-post-release design shift like it's recently been done to Payday 2.

Your comment (below) received a reply from IPS: Just like a Vickers Medium on a 38t chassis. The middle one is a Japanese Type 95 Light, the left one unknown. -------------------- that awkward moment when you look up the type 95 and notice that it looks very much like the thing you've just modeled with no particluar rl tank in mind.. Have you considered keeping the Centurion as maybe a special tank for one of the Generals?
